Alda Irene Kelley Smith

Alda Irene Kelley Smith, age 80, of Kingwood passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born August 11, 1943, at Beech Run, Albright, WV, a daughter of the late Dale and Florence (Dunn) Hillary.              

She was preceded in death by her first husband Daniel R. Kelley, and her second husband, Alva J. Smith.

Surviving are:  two daughters, Connie Sue Herrin and husband Jamie, of Metter, GA, Kimberly Kelley, and Ray, of Kingwood sons, Robert Michael Kelley and Sharon, of Oakland, MD, Roger Kelley and David Kelley and Tina, both of Tunnelton, and Timothy Kelley and Elizabeth, of Maidsville, WV; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Donna Jean Shaffer, of Kingwood.

She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters, Kathy and Peggy Kelley; three brothers; four sisters; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Kelley.

Alda was a Nurse’s Aide at Hopemont Hospital where she retired as supervisor of the information center, and had also worked at Sterling Faucet. She loved celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas with her family. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandbabies. She watched many football games with her sons and wrestling with her grandkids. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, and playing slot machines. Her TV was always on the western channel. She enjoyed traveling and had visited Paris, England, and Japan.

Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 4 – 7 pm, and on Thursday from 10 am until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Ernie Rowan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
