Archetta Lou (Long) DeBarr, age 89, of Tunnelton, WV, passed away June 27, 2024, at Kingwood Healthcare Center, with her family by her side. She was born, November 22, 1934, in Alton, Upshur county, WV, a daughter of the late Omer Clovis Long and Dana Lucille (Wyatt) Long Pringle. Her husband, Eugene O’Neil DeBarr, preceded her in death September 1, 2011. They were united in marriage November 22, 1953.
Archetta was a 1953 graduate of Richwood High School, she was retired having worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper for Carl Marsh, CPA, and Seneca-Upshur Petroleum. She attended the Howesville United Methodist Church and the Kingwood Baptist Church. She spent many winters in Florida snowbirding. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Buckwheat Stompers, she also enjoyed painting with watercolors, bird watching, and feeding the birds.
Surviving are: three children, Andrea Lynne Kilkenny and husband Theodore, of Tunnelton, Gregory Alan DeBarr, of Kingwood, and Lori Ann Murphy, of Lebanon, PA; six grandchildren, Alisa Kilkenny and companion David, Tyler DeBarr and wife Amanda, Bethany Scott and husband Michael, Marissa Curtiss and husband Anthony, Preston Murphy, and Ashley Murphy and husband Nick; nine great grandchildren, Hunter Grimes, Layne DeBarr, Ashlynn DeBarr, Colton DeBarr, Laurel Grimes, Levi Scott, Cameron Scott, Harper Curtiss, Tanner Grimes, and Austin Curtiss; two brothers, Wyatt Dexell Long and wife Patty, of Buchannon, and Dallas Roy Long and wife Nancy, of Berkley Springs.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by: one grandson, Joshua DeBarr; and one brother, Omer Fred Long.
Friends and family will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 12 pm until 2 pm. A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 pm, at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
