Benjamin “BJ” Jesse Buckingham, 82, of Kingwood, WV, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Kingwood Healthcare Center. He was born on April 18, 1942 in Rowlesburg, WV, son of the late Jesse Charles Buckingham and Margaret Ruth (Robinson) Buckingham.
After BJ graduated from Rowlesburg High School, he made plywood at Georgia Pacific. He then worked in manufacturing at Sheidow Bronze, and after retirement lived in St. Louis. He was a member of the Rowlesburg Volunteer Fire Department.
BJ is survived by four brothers, Charles Buckingham, of Morgantown, David Buckingham, of Rowlesburg, Ronald B. Buckingham, Frances B. Buckingham, both of St. Louis, Missouri; and a step daughter, Anita Breese.
In addition to his parents, BJ was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Bolyard) Buckingham; a son, Nelson Shane Buckingham; one brother, Eugene “Colton” Buckingham; two sisters, Nioma Mae Dilsworth and Doris Jeanette Hixenbaugh.
Friends and family will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 12pm until 1pm. A memorial service will be held at 1pm at the funeral home. Pastor Kevin Keplinger officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
