Bonnie Ellen Strawser, 81, of Tunnelton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born April 4, 1944, in Kingwood, a daughter of the late Wallace “Mitch” Tasker and Louise Ellen Stonebreaker Plum.
Bonnie was a proud graduate of Kingwood High School, Class of 1962. She spent many dedicated years working for the Preston County Board of Education as an Autistic Mentor Aide, where her gentle spirit, patience, and caring heart made a lasting difference in the lives of many children.
A woman of strong faith, Bonnie was a devoted member of New Beginnings Church in Moatsville. Her church family meant a great deal to her, and she carried her faith in the Lord with quiet strength and kindness throughout her life.
Bonnie found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved working in her garden, mowing her yard, and canning the fruits of her labor. Many peaceful afternoons were spent sitting on her front porch watching the hummingbirds, appreciating the beauty of God’s creation. Above all, Bonnie cherished her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her loving children, Tenna Pappas and husband Matt of Deland, Florida, and Brian Strawser and wife Jenny of Tunnelton; four cherished granddaughters, Sara Johnson and husband William, Karla Beiswenger and husband Justin, Megan Yurko, and Ivy Pappas; and one precious great-granddaughter, Maya Johnson.
She is also survived by her siblings, Danny Plum and Ruby Jean Quales, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember her with love.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy “Jake” Strawser, who passed away June 22, 1996, and by her siblings, Bobby Tasker, William “Bill” Plum, Faye Plum, and Charlotte Matthews.
Family and friends will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 3:00–7:00 PM, and again on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Ken Stewart officiating.
