Charles "Bud" Lindy Everly

Charles “Bud” Lindy Everly, 93 of Terra Alta, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Bud was born on September 12, 1931, in Rodemer, WV, the son of the late Troy Elsworth and Myrtle Mae (Powell) Everly. Bud had several places of employment over the years; Bud ditched on the B&O Railroad for several years, he worked several years with his brother Don in the timber business and later retired from Hopemont State Hospital as a security guard. He was an avid Mountaineer fan and loved his Cleveland Browns. He loved making crafts after he retired. He was a member of the Pine Grove Church.

Bud’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a husband to his beloved wife, Dolly Pearl (Hamrick) Everly, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage, laughter, and cherished memories. Bud is a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved camping with family and friends. His favorite place to camp was Canaan Valley, he called it his, “home away from home.”

Bud is survived by three sons, Rodney Powell and family, Jerry Everly, and wife Tammy, all of Terra Alta,  Randy Everly and wife Melissa, of Bruceton Mills; a daughter, Tammy Bolyard and husband Robert, of Kingwood; three grandsons, Corey Everly-Hensley and husband Ben, Caleb Bolyard and wife Abby, Jalin Everly; one granddaughter, Sherea Conner and husband Austin; three great grandsons, George Bolyard, Cash Bolyard, Dillon Bolyard; one great granddaughter on the way, Willow Mae Conner; two sisters, Helen Nazelrod, of Terra Alta, and Judy Tasker and husband Roger, of Reedsville.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald, and Everett Everly; two sisters, Delores “Bonnie” Cuppett and Shirley Shaffer.

Family and friends will be received at the Terra Alta Funeral Home, 1112 W. State Ave., Terra Alta, WV 26764, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025 and on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral hour, with Pastor Kevin Keplinger officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery.
