Curtis Teets Obituary

Curtis Alan Teets, age 64, of Independence, formerly of Kingwood, passed away on April 30, 2024 after a recent cancer diagnosis. Curt was born in Milford, DE, the son of Patricia Teets and the late Thomas C. Teets on February 23, 1960. He was baptized Methodist.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Teets, daughter Alley Teets, mother Patricia Teets and sister Carole (Bill) Crawford. Also surviving are his bonus kids Melissa (Willy) Barberich and daughters Gabrielle, Gillian and Addyson. Thomas (Audrey) Lutz and sons Landon, Ashton and Dominic (Sabrina) Teter and their daughter Kyra. Robbie Bishop and son Hunter. He also leaves behind his nephews Adam (Ali) Crawford and Tyler (Olivia) Crawford and 5 great nieces/nephews. He is also survived by many cousins in DE and MD.

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Teets aka Topcat in 2004.

Curt graduated from Central Preston High School with the class of 1978. His classmates remember him by his nickname, Cleater. He leaves behind his very best friends, who were like brothers, Louis Gallina and Mike Marrara and their families…. the keepers of memories and great times.

Working at the Department of Energy, until his untimely diagnosis, was a job in which he took great pride. He was known to his work “buddies” as “the Governor” and they meant everything to him. Together these work brothers shared quite a bond. He was hard working, rarely taking a break unless he was up to something ornery.

He enjoyed beach vacations to the DE shore when he was young. He loved to ride his Harley, fish, hunt, tailgate in the WVU blue lot or in his friend Mike Cochran’s garage. He was an avid Mountaineer and Steelers fan. He took joy in backyard basketball with his grandchildren.

Curt, like his father, had a quick wit. He was a social extrovert and never met a stranger. He would give his shirt off his back to take care of and show support for others

He will be missed by all of his family and friends. As a family we are grateful for all who visited or reached out during his very brief illness.

Curt exemplified that it is more about the life we live rather than the time we are given.

Friends will be received to share memories at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood WV, 26537, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 2pm to 6pm. The funeral service will be held at 6pm Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Kingwood Funeral Home. Elder Jerry Shiflett officiating.
