Danita Dawn “D.D.” Britton, 65, of Kingwood passed away at her home on January 16th 2024.
Danita was born on Jan. 13, 1959, to the late Douglas W. Britton and Ada Marie (Serafino) Britton of Rowlesburg, WV. Danita attended Rowlesburg High School and West Virginia University. She had been living in Phoenix, AZ, where she worked for the world’s busiest 800 number for the Social Security Administration, handling calls from all over the country until moving back to West Virginia in 2019. She loved that her job brought something different every day.
Danita was remarkable for her intelligence, her razor-sharp research skills, inexhaustible command of trivia, wicked sense of humor and her passionate advocacy of animal welfare. She loved books and was a connoisseur of old movies and music from every genre. She was an avid follower of all things involving animals, from tiny kittens to pandas and everything in between. Even though her health prevented her from traveling she was able to nurture and treasure many, many special friendships all over the world online.
Danita is survived by 4 siblings; Thresa Bautista of Kingwood, Alicia (Allan) Timm of Inman, SC, Shelia Brown (David) of Kingwood, and Aaron Britton of Kingwood, beloved nieces and great nieces and nephew and many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Leonard Bautista.
Danita was deeply loved and will be very much missed by her family and friends scattered throughout the country.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm on June 29, 2024, at Kingwood First Presbyterian Church, 104 E. High Street, Kingwood, WV 26537.
