Doris “Dot” Gwen Campbell passed away peacefully at her home in Kingwood, WV, on August 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Dot was a vibrant spirit who truly lived life on her own terms. She cherished time with family and friends, whether it was sharing a meal, watching a football game, or just enjoying good music. An avid NFL fan, she especially loved cheering for her New York Giants—but truth be told, she’d watch any game if it meant football on a Saturday or Sunday. Music was always part of her life, and her favorite bands included Aerosmith, the Dixie Chicks, and Nickelback.
Dot had a knack for fun and adventure. She enjoyed riding Harley-Davidsons, going on poker runs, playing cards (and running the table), and spending weekends soaking up the energy of the things she loved. She was also passionate about horse racing and spent her younger years playing sports and bowling in leagues. Her favorite truck was a Ford diesel Power Stroke.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Dot spent more than 25 years in the construction industry, proudly working with Union Local 132. She was skilled in all aspects of the job—from operating heavy equipment to working on power plants—and she did everything with excellence. She also worked as a veterinary technician/assistant for 15 years, caring for animals with the same dedication she gave to her family and friends. Outside of work, she loved to cook for those she cared about, with her famous spaghetti and meatballs (and all the fixings) being a favorite among family and friends.
Dot is survived by her husband, Claude Gower; her children, Will Semmelman, Jeremy Campbell, and Tabitha Lamoureux; her sisters, Diana Yocum, Karen Lewis, Colleen Braham, Cindy Bowers, Roseann Braham, Kim Jones, and Nicky Taylor; her brothers, Lowell Winans, Kevin Winans, and Chad Jones; her mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Charles Jones; ten nieces, Kristy Freeman, Megan Hart, Adrienne Knotts, Rochelle Hollen, Kasey Bowers, Francesca Haught, Kristen Tucker, Tiffany Winans, Rachel Hendershot, and Anna Jones; eight nephews, Paul Yocum, Michael Winans, Travis Winans, Kevin Hollen, Donnie Braham, David Higgins, Josh Higgins, and Owen Jones; and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Winans; her son, Nicholas Wayne Baughman; her stepson, Craig Campbell; her nephew, David Lewis; and her dearest friend, Debbie Nuzum.
Dot’s legacy will live on in the laughter, stories, and memories she leaves with those who loved her.
