Doris Marie Williams, 75, of Tunnelton, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. She was born March 27, 1948 in Philippi, a daughter of Dorothy Anderson Bennett of Newburg and the late James Bennett. Her husband of 58 years, Larry “Butch” Allen Williams survives, they were united in marriage, April 17, 1965.
Doris was an amazing wife, mom, nan, and friend to the Tunnelton/Denver Community over the years. She graduated from Tunnelton High School, Class of 1966. She was very active in the community as a band mother, girl scout leader, and EMT for the Tunnelton Ambulance. She worked years and later became co-owner of W&W Service Center where she looked forward to seeing the customers, especially the children she loved so dearly. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, embroidery, and her protector and companions, Nova and the late Blue.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two children, Kimberly “Kim” (James) Abbey, Tunnelton, Angela “Angie” (Rick) Harrison, Masontown; two grandchildren, Charles Mayne who was raised as a son, Lindsey (Micky) Powell; bonus grandchildren, Amber Abbey (Arron McKibbin), James (Chavene) Abbey; two great grandchildren, Garrett Powell and Lily Powell; bonus great grandchildren, Carter and Waylon Root, Nicholas McKibbin, Willow and Maren Abbey; three sisters, Imogene (Jerry) Watkins, Statesville, NC; Patricia Bennett (Danny Perry), Buckhannon, Betty (Richard) Bolyard, Newburg; two sisters-in-law, Helen Bennett, Statesville, NC, Jeanne Bennett, Buckhannon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her father, Doris was preceded in death by one grandson, Levi Powell; two brothers, Eugene Bennett, and William “Bill” Bennett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis and Mary Williams.
Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 2–8 pm and on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 9 am until time of the Funeral services at 11:00 am with Rev David Spence officiating.
