Douglas "Doug" Stull Obituary

Douglas Eric Stull left us on the morning of September 26, 2024.

Doug was born on June 7, 1960 at South Side Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Dennis Joe Stull and Doris Jean Gamble Stull.  He was raised by Dennis and Jean, and then, from the time of three years old, by Dennis and Deloris Jeannet Gamble Stull, in both Pittsburgh and West Virginia.  As an adult, Doug moved to Manassas, Virginia where he started his own family.  Eventually, after living for a long time in King George, Virginia, Doug moved back to Preston County with his three children.

Doug was and is still adored by his family. He is survived by his daughters Ashley Nicole Stull and Erin Paige Stull, and his son Travis Gerard Stull; his daughter-in-law Katie Shiftlett Stull; and grandchildren Ella and Eli Stull.  He is also survived by his sister Normadean Stull Hanlin, and karaoke partner and brother-in-law Bob Hanlin; brother Brian Stull and sister-in-law Debbie; brother-in-law and side-by-side riding buddy James Sypolt; nieces Natalie Sypolt and Brie Stull; and nephews Derek Hanlin and Tony Stull. He will also be missed by his dog, Maggie, and many friends, family, and co-workers.

Doug was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Gerard Stull, his father Dennis Joe Stull, mother Doris Jean Stull and other mother Deloris Jeanette Stull, and sister Rebecca Stull Sypolt.

Doug was never one to shy away from an adventure, be it riding his bicycle alone to Kennywood or teaching himself to swim when he was a kid, or driving across the country to visit Barb in California before they were married.  He was funny and sarcastic, a hard worker, and a lover of animals (even though he might not have admitted it). He loved his family fiercely and never left the hospital after his daughter Erin was seriously injured in an automobile accident, did not leave until she was well enough—months later—to leave with him.

He was not ready to go, and we are certainly not ready to lose him; however, he would take some enjoyment out of knowing how much he surprised us, this one last time.
