Eric Sims Obituary

Eric Randall “Randy” Sims, age 69, of Proctor, WV passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 in Norfolk, VA. He was born April 13, 1954, a son of the late Edward Bruce Sims and Eleanor (Snider) Sims. His wife, Debra Sue Sims survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by: two sons, Tim Sims and Danielle, of Morgantown, and Josh Sims, of Proctor; one daughter, Erica Jackson and Brian, of Morgantown; three granddaughters, Brianna, Maddy, and Paris; three brothers, Bruce Sims and  Donna, of Wisconsin; Jay Sims, of Florida; and Sam Sims and Valerie, of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Leslie Sims and Mark, of Boston, MA, and Sandi Sims and Ben, of Michigan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Timothy Sims.

Randy was a dedicated and devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather for 69 years. His mom commented that he was so smart that it surprised her that he could do calculus. He went on to have a successful and long career as a civil engineer. He cherished his parents, siblings, and childhood and forever loved the small town way of living.

His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, and watching sports with his boys. He would get extremely excited to watch football and loved hanging out to watch a game. With his intense love of boy activities, Nothing made him happier than hanging with his girls at Oglebay, watching his girls sing, or a random shopping trip. He enjoyed his granddaughters and spoiled them as much as he could.

His greatest love of all was his Debbie who he was married to for 48 years. She stood by him and was a light to him through it all as he often referred to her as his “angel”.

Randy was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, and an avid churchgoer having attended St Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.
