Evelyn Mae Benson

Evelyn Mae Benson, age 91, of Kingwood, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, surrounded by her family, at Stonerise of Kingwood. She was born in Kingwood, July 22, 1931 a daughter of the late Grover Clinton Shrout and Iva Cleota (Uphold) Shrout. Her husband of 40 years, William Roy Benson, preceded her in death.

Evelyn was a homemaker, she enjoyed playing bingo and scratch off lottery tickets, she loved visiting with family and watching the birds.

Surviving are:  one son, William Roger “Bill” Benson and wife Suzanne, of Bruceton Mills; one daughter, Lois (Benson) Lightner and husband Robert K., of Reedsville; two brothers, Franklin Shrout, and William Shrout, both of Kingwood; one sister, Margaret Fink, of Ohio; five grandchildren, Shelly Maxwell and husband Kevin, Kathy Barlow, Julie Lightner and companion Tim, Michael Gallatin, and Elizabeth Feigel and husband Steven; twelve great grandchildren, Amanda, Bradley, Trista and husband Josh, Tyler, Shelby and wife Cat, Kaylee, T.J., Logan, Shalynn, Kinsley, Jack, and Jaxson.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Wanda (Benson) Gallatin; brothers, Alfred, Robert, and one infant brother; three sisters, Mildred Sisler, Beatrice Siegmyer, and Loretta Harrison.

Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, from 2-6 pm, Monday, December 26, 2022. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 6 pm, at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Argabrite officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Pisgah, WV.
