Flora Adeline (Funk) Pyles

Flora Adeline (Funk) Pyles, 90, of Kingwood, West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, at Preston Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 25, 1934, in Rowlesburg, WV, to the late Eugene Funk and Dora (Miller) Funk.  Flora was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Kenneth Paul Pyles.

A graduate of Rowlesburg High School in Rowlesburg, WV, and Catherman Business School in Cumberland, MD. Flora dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a homemaker for many years, was a devoted caregiver, and, alongside her late husband, owned and operated Kenny’s Restaurant. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and treasured the time they got to spend together. Flora was a proud member of the Fort Butler VFW Post #826 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post #200 Ladies Auxiliary. She found great joy in serving others and being a caregiver.

Flora is survived by her two children, Pamela Goss and her husband, William, and Noel Franklin Pyles, both of Kingwood; six siblings, Margaret Friend of Virginia, Dorothy Boyer of Cumberland, Mary Thiel and her husband, Roy, of Rowlesburg, Mike Funk and his wife, Becky, of Rowlesburg, David Funk and his wife, Tammy, of Oklahoma, and Charles Funk and his wife, Mary, of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Kathryn L. Wilson, Kenneth F. McKee, Craig M. Pyles, William Brian Goss, Victoria R. Crum, and Jennifer L. Pyles; fourteen great-grandchildren, Harley, Casey, Sarah, KJ, Gannon, Garron, Zoey, Trek, Alexis, Mazzy, Laramie, Kaitlin, Aiden, and Marlee; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Flora was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Kaye Cale; three siblings: Edna Louise Cramer, Richard Harry Funk, and Shirley Ann Diggs; as well as one great-granddaughter, Westlynn N. Goss.

Friends may call from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV, and on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Grace Chapel Baptist Church, 167 Grace Chapel Rd, Kingwood, WV from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour at 3:00 PM, with Reverend Mike Yates officiating. A private interment will be at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
