Galen "Junior" Manuel Bankhead

Galen “Junior” Manuel Bankhead, 76, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at WV Caring Hospice Center, in Elkins, WV. He was born in Morgantown on September 21, 1948, son of the late Manuel and Winona (Uphold) Bankhead.

Galen was a graduate of Bruceton High School and was an electrician in the coal mines. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Galen enjoyed working on cars and buildings. Along with his wife Sharon, they even built their home together.

Galen is survived by his wife of years, Sharon Gail (Henson) Bankhead; four daughters, Julie Robak, Angie Jeffreys, Misty Marie Bankhead, Lacie Bankhead; two step daughters, Angela Henson, Sandra Dietz; six grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin Bankhead and wife Lola, Stanley Bankhead, David Bankhead; two sisters, Shirley Dudley, and Diane Hines and husband Bill.

In addition to his parents, Galen was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Bankhead, Lawson Bankhead; one sister, Patricia “Patty” Bankhead; two brothers in law, Lawrence Dudley, Donald Adams, and one sister in law, Wilma Bankhead.

In honoring his wishes, cremation services will be accorded by the Kingwood Funeral Home and Crematory, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV.
