Glenda Joyce (Johnson) Scroggs

Glenda Joyce (Johnson) Scroggs, 59, of Kingwood, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She was born on August 11, 1965, in Morgantown, WV, the daughter of Velma Elizabeth (Scott) Johnson and the late Enoch Johnson.

A proud member of the Central Preston High School Class of 1983, Glenda went on to become a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse. Her caring nature led her to serve in the United States Army Reserves for eight years, where she made lifelong friendships and cared for those in need. Glenda also worked for many years at Mon Pointe Hospital and later at WVU Medicine, and eventually served as a front desk receptionist at Mon Wedgewood.

Outside of her work, Glenda had a deep love for life and nature. She enjoyed doing yardwork, spending time in her garden, walking her beloved dog, Lily, and most of all, spending time with her friends. Glenda was a volunteer at Kingwood Elementary School where she built picnic tables, set up the school garden and banking program, was a PTA member and spent countless hours volunteering at the library. Above all, Glenda cherished her family, and her love and devotion to them were boundless.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, David Mark Scroggs; her son, Timothy Mark Scroggs and his wife Brittney of Roanoke, VA; her daughter, Stevie Rei Scroggs of Kingwood, WV; and her four siblings: Robert Johnson and companion Sandy of Maryland, Angela Knotts and husband James of Tunnelton, Alicia Smith and husband Richard of Reedsville, and Patricia Auvil and husband Shawn of Tunnelton. Glenda will also be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, as well as her cherished fur babies, Lily and Duke.

Glenda’s kind spirit, her dedication to others, and her love for her family will always be remembered.

Friends and family will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 12pm until the 2pm funeral hour, with Pastor Larry Cress officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery.
