Helena "Annette" Casteel

Helena “Annette” (Shedd) Casteel, 61, of Kingwood, entered into eternal rest, Sunday, July 9, 2023, at home with loving family by her side. She was born January 7, 1962, in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Neil Lamont Shedd, of New Caney, TX, and Helen Ann Kerns of Charleston, WV.

Annette was a homemaker and she enjoyed crocheting, bead work, and puzzles. In her childhood she was in the children’s royalty court in The Preston County Buckwheat Festival and went on to be in many parades for band and majorette. She graduated Kingwood High School, Class of 1980.

In addition to her mother, Annette is survived by her ex husband, Mark D. Casteel, of Kingwood; son, Jason D. Casteel and companion Stacie Johnson, of Kingwood; daughter, Rebecca Goldsborough and husband, Eric, of Kingwood; 4 grandchildren, Hunter, Mason, and Ryder Casteel, and Alexis Goldsborough, all of Kingwood; a brother, Neil L. Shedd ll, of Charleston, WV.

Annette was proceeded in death by, her father Neil L. Shedd; her first grandchild, Brianna M. Casteel; stepfather Homer R. Kerns; grandmother Juanita E. Layne; and uncle Henry O. “Butch” Layne.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online, or mailed to Kingwood Funeral Home, PO Box 1000 Kingwood, WV 26537, to offset funeral expenses.
