Hilda Amanda (Criss) Williams, 95, of Tunnelton when home to be with her heavenly father, September 29th, 2023 from Janet's Heavenly Home in Fellowsville.
She was born in Denver West Virginia, on June 17th 1928, the daughter of the late Earl R. Criss and Flossie L (Wolfe) Criss. She was the last surviving member of her family that was blessed by siblings of five boys and nine girls.
Hilda was a long-time member of the Denver United Methodist Church, the Tunnelton Historical Society and was nominated Tunnelton's History Hero sponsored by the Division of Culture and History. She loved to read, attend, listen and watch Mountaineer basketball. Hilda graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1946 and then was employed at Westinghouse in Fairmont, West Virginia. After returning to Preston County, she married, Foster “Foss” John Williams. She started another career as a cook at Tunnelton high school, then Central Preston Jr. High, and lastly South Preston Middle School. Hilda is survived by her only daughter: Deane “Dee” Shaffer and spouse Robert of Tunnelton and a brother-in-law JC Williams of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster J. Williams in 1986; in-laws Charles and Edith Williams, five brothers, eight sisters, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Friends may call at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, on Monday, October 2nd from 5 – 7:00 PM and Tuesday at 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ed Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Shaw Cemetery, Denver.
