Mrs. Hilma Dixon Barlow, 97, of Kingwood, WV took her last breath on this earth Saturday, August 20, 2022.

She was born in Masontown, WV on September 6, 1924. The daughter of the late Harry Arthur and Eileen (White) Dixon.

Hilma was an energetic, happy and active dear lady. A member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Kingwood. A graduate of Masontown High School in 1942 and graduated from business college in Dayton, Ohio. She was active in the Reedsville 4H when her children were young, a Red Hat member in Kingwood, a member of St Zita's  Altar Society, on the senior bowling league at Pine View in Masontown until she was 94 years old, a secretary in Rome, NY and New Jersey during WWII, JW Ruby Enterprises and at the Department of Energy in Morgantown from where she retired. Hilma enjoyed camping at Big Bear Lake, traveling, arranging bus tours with Central Cab and taking family trips in many states, while making friends along the way. She and her husband traveled to many European Countries. She was a Mountaineer fan and tailgated for many years at the football games. Growing up and living in Preston County, Hilma enjoyed the Buckwheat Festival and attended each and every year since its beginning.
 

Hilma is survived by her son, David Barlow and wife Daphne; a daughter-in-law Carol Barlow; seven grandchildren, Zach and Abbie Barlow, Allison Barlow, Stephen, Scott and Ryan McGinnis and Kare McGinnis (Shawn) Sparks; one great-grandson, Evan Sparks. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews for whom she always had open arms.


As well as her parents, Hilma was preceded in death by her husband James Dale Barlow; a daughter, Shirley Ann and husband Dr. Lloyd "Pat" McGinnis; sons, Mark Alan Barlow and Timothy Eugene Barlow; a sister, Ann Rodeheaver; and two brothers, Lyle Eugene Dixon and Mitchell Dixon.


Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 South Price Street, Kingwood from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be conducted in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sabastian Catholic Church in Kingwood on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Charles McGinnis as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Howesville.
