Janet Louise (Carpenter) Crandall, 84, of Kingwood, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Preston Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 8, 1941 in Pond Gap, WV, daughter of the late Eura Jennings and Macel Cleo (Seabolt) Carpenter.
Janet was a 1960 graduate of Bruceton High School. She was a beloved cook for Preston County Schools for twenty-seven and a half years. Janet was a member of Kingwood Baptist Church, and she enjoyed embroidering, quilting, sewing and flower gardening. She was a wonderful mother, proud grandma and loving sister, who cherished her family.
Janet is survived by her son, Darrell Livengood and wife Emily, of Terra Alta; one daughter, Robin Thomas and husband Terry, of Kingwood; three grandchildren, Brandon Thomas and wife Melissa, Arielle Thomas-Mabie and husband Logan, George Louk; two great grandchildren, Henley Thomas, Sophia Mabie; one brother, Sydney Carpenter, of Wyoming; and one sister, Reba Streaker, of Kingwood.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Gordon Crandall; her daughter, Belinda Christina Livengood; and four brothers, Junior Carpenter, Virgil Carpenter, Bert Carpenter, Dexter Carpenter.
Friends and family will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., Kingwood, from 11am until the 1pm funeral hour, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, with Pastor Charles Warger officiating. Interment will follow at Centenary Cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, services will be rescheduled.
