Joan Lilian (Hibbert) Yonson, born on March 13, 1937, in Liverpool, England, was called home by God on May 5, 2025, in the home of her daughter, Andrea, at the young age of 88.
Mum enjoyed tending to her yard and flowers, traveling, sewing, playing the bean bag game, dancing, BBQs, loving on her fur-babies Penny and KeeKee, tending to her little ones, and sitting drinking pots of "tea" and reminiscing and telling stories of the farm in Wales and of World War II.
Preceding her in death is the love of her life Albert W. Yonson Jr., of 55 plus years; her mother Florence Weir Hibbert, her father William "Bill" Hibbert, both of Liverpool England; sisters, Ethel Feasel, of Columbus, Ohio, Florence Ellis, of Liverpool, England, Joyce Tracey, of Windsor, Canada, Norma Weir, of Liverpool, England; her daughter, Norma Yonson Crawford, of Lexington, SC (and husband William "Bill" Everette Crawford); and her great grandson, Anthony Scott Morris.
Surviving her is her daughter, Andrea Hibbert Yonson Wiley (Harley),of WV; son Wesley A Yonson (Linda), of SC; daughter, Cindie Sekhri, of SC; nephews, Wayne Ellis, of Liverpool, England, Michael Feasel, of Columbus Ohio, niece Geraldine (Jim), of Columbus Ohio. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tina Stevens Sacco (John) Maryland, Sonya Stevens WV (SC), Travis Yonson (SC), Randy Yonson (SC), Kevin Yonson (SC), and Brandon McCormick (SC), as well as two great-grandchildren, Camron Morris Benton (Justin) NC, and PFC TY Wolfe Stevens (Maryland); and two great-great-grandchildren, Daylon Travis Benton and Kristina Elizabeth Benton (NC)
The family would like to give a special thanks to Lonnie Stevens, Mike Stevens (Tina), Aunt Julie Uncle Johnny Murray, Melissa Warren, Dwayne (Kelly) Geddings for all the unconditional love, time and help of hard work and up keep of home grounds and great meals, Sumter First Pentecostal Holiness Church, pastor Brett Gardner and Church family for all the help and special love, prayers and attention given and shown to Mum; to Hunter Whitaker (WV) for the love and joy and smiles he brought to Mum; to Jennifer Pena (Texas) Mum's beautiful mermaid for sharing her time and love to bring her laughter and smiles; to Teresa and Christopher for their unconditional love and support; to the Kingwood WV Walmart pharmacy: Brian and Jason pharmacist and staff for all their assistance and help; to WV Caring Hospice: Tabitha, Lawrence, Scott, Dennis and Debbie for Joy, laughter, smiles and support; and to Kingwood Funeral Home and Cannon-Elmore-Stephens Funeral Home for their gentleness and care of Mum.
God bless all those who came briefly into Mum's life and brought her joy and laughter.
Services will be held by Pastor Brett Gardner at Sumter First Pentecostal Holiness Church (SC) on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with a viewing to begin at 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 11:00 am.
Joan will then be laid to rest with her husband Albert W Yonson,Jr. who retired from the Air Force, at Fort Jackson Military Grave site, Columbia, SC, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 10:00 am.
