“Not all who wander are lost” -- JRR Tolkien
Joshua Tyler Roberts, 33, of Kingwood, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 10, 2026, at his home. He was born in Kingwood on December 4, 1992, son of Teresa “Terri” (Hardman) Hoit and husband James, of Kingwood, and Darrell Roberts, of Ohio.
Though family and friends are devasted by Josh’s unexpected loss, Josh is on to his next adventure.
On May 25, 2026, Josh lost his grandma, Joyce Hardman, who he loved dearly. He also lost his feline companions, Domina, of seventeen years, and five days later, Rusty, who was fourteen years old. Josh and his cats had many adventures together. Heaven could not wait for them to be reunited.
Josh loved the outdoors. He loved kayaking on the Cheat River with his sister, Sarah Roberts, of Kingwood; base jumping on the rocks; hiking North Fork or even coaxing his mom, Terri Hoit, to go on an overnight excursion at Dolly Sods so she could experience his love for the area and all it had to offer. Josh was also loved by his brother, Zachary Roberts, who resides in Florida.
Josh could not be contained. He will forever be loved and cherished by his grandfather, Bud Hardman, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and treasured friends. Though their time together was cut too short, Josh met his person to share in all his adventures.
Josh, may your adventurous spirit live on in and through us. You are dearly missed.
