Karen Sue (Gary) Sheets

Karen Sue (Gary) Sheets, 81, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 4, 1943, in Preston County, she was the daughter of the late James Silas Gary and Virginia Ellen (Cole) Gary. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Sheets, who passed in November 2003.

Karen was a proud 1961 graduate of Rowlesburg High School. Over the years, she dedicated her time and compassion to others, working as a cashier at Walmart and serving as a nurse’s aide at Valley Healthcare and Preston Memorial Hospital, as well as a home health aide.

In her free time, Karen found joy in life’s simple pleasures—shopping at Walmart, solving crossword puzzles, and watching NCIS. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by her son, Walter Sheets and wife Autumn of Rowlesburg; three daughters, Karen Stone and husband Mike of Kingwood, Sherry Thomas and husband Lynn of Kingwood, and Barb Nelson and husband Bob of Newburg; eleven grandchildren: Trenton Sheets (Mandy), Heather Stone-Clark (Sean), Nicholas Stone (Savannah), Erica Funk (Brandon), Berenice Stone, Caleb Stone, Shara Lipscomb (Johnny), Kalynn Hershman (Eric), Bryson Thomas, Stacy Sisler (Sam), and Kelsey Schmidle (Cody); as well as eighteen adored great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Karen was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Ryder Thomas; two brothers, James Gary and Francis Gary; and her sister, Louise Griffith.

Family and friends may call on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., Kingwood, WV, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Margie Waybright. Interment will follow at Mt. Sarah Cemetery.

Karen’s kindness, warmth, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
