Larry Ray Slagle, age 81, of Kingwood, passed away February 13, 2023, at Stonerise Kingwood. He was born July 25, 1941, in Albright, WV, a son of the late Kenneth Clyde and Mayme Ann (Martin) Slagle. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Grace Elizabeth (Hardesty) Slagle. They were united in marriage June 19, 1965.
Surviving are: one son, Bruce R. Slagle, of Kingwood; one grandson, Curtis Slagle; and one great granddaughter, Savannah Grace Slagle, both of New Creek, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Slagle.
Larry was a welder/fabricator by trade, he worked for Chem Metal of Kingwood for 20 years until their closing. He then worked for Preston Machine until his retirement. He was a veteran having served in the Army National Guard. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and an amateur radio operator for many years. He owned and operated the repeater on top of Caddell mountain, which was a great benefit to the local fire departments and the 911 center. He enjoyed woodworking and working on electrical equipment.
Larry will be cremated and his ashes interred at Maplewood Cemetery, Kingwood. The family would like memorial donations to be made to the Preston County Humane Society, P.O. Box 395, Kingwood, WV 26537.
