Linda Darlene (Nice) Snyder

Linda (Nice) Snyder, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 22, 2026, at the age of 73. Surrounded by the love of her family on her last day, Linda left this world the way she lived in it: with strength and a generous heart.

Born on September 29, 1952, in Erwin, WV, Linda was the daughter of Ernest and Merle (Lantz) Nice. She grew up on her family farm, where she developed her lifelong values of kindness, resilience, community, and dedication to family. She graduated from Rowlesburg High School and Fairmont Business College. She spent 28 years working for the Stockyard.

Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leonard Snyder; her children, Rebecca Raber (Brian) and Sarah Rettig (Major); her grandchildren, Landon, Leland, Lakin, and Laurel Raber, Parker and Keturah Rettig; her brother, Leroy Nice (Kathy); special family members Bill Lantz and Jackie Duncan; nieces and nephews; and her veterans family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Merle (Lantz) Nice.

Beyond her family, Linda found happiness in community through her involvement in Amboy UMC, the Aurora Area Historical Society, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Honor Guard “Support Team.” She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, and her home was often filled with laughter, good food, and heartfelt conversation. She touched countless lives through her generosity and quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure for generations.

Friends may call at Terra Alta Funeral Home, 1112 W. State Street, Terra Alta, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour, officiated by Reverend Michael Lantz. Private interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Aurora Area Historical Society in Linda’s memory. Terra Alta Funeral Home is honored to serve the Snyder family.

Linda will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
