Lula Catherine (Lewis) Barnett

Lula Catherine (Lewis) Barnett, 91, of Kingwood, WV, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 27, 1934 in Grafton, daughter of the late Henry Sylvester and Anna Elizabeth Lewis.

Catherine was a graduate of Kelly Miller High School in Clarksburg, and had worked for Mountaineer Contracting as a housekeeper. She loved watching baseball, especially the WVU baseball team. Catherine was a loving grandmother, even sharing the Hallmark Channel with her grandkids.

Catherine is survived by two sons, Charles Barnett (Michele), Kenneth Barnett, both of Kingwood; four daughters, JoAnna Bussey, Lisa Barnett, both of Kingwood, Hattie Jolliffe, Katherine Holyfield (William), both of Fairmont; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, French Bennett Barnett Sr.; two sons, French Barnett Jr., Carl Barnett; one grandson, William Davis Holyfield; two brothers, Richard Lewis, Bill Lewis; two sisters, Anna Stewart, Barbara Patterson; one son in law, Terry E. Jolliffe.

Family and friends will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St. Kingwood, WV, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 3pm to 7pm, and on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 10am until the 11am funeral hour, with Reverend James Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood.
