Marie Wolfe, 85, of Preston County, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025 in her home.
Born on March 2, 1940, to the late Erbie and Georgia Wolfe of Beech Run, WV, Marie grew up in a large and loving family that remained close throughout her life. After graduating high school, she moved to Virginia where she began a long and rewarding career as a computer analyst for the federal government.
Though her work took her away from home, Marie’s heart always stayed in Preston County. She returned often for family gatherings and the annual Buckwheat Festival, a tradition she cherished. Upon retirement, she enjoyed her time as a “snowbird,” dividing her year between her home in Preston County and The Villages in Florida.
Marie lived life to the fullest — traveling widely, making lifelong friends, and collecting memories wherever she went. Mexico was among her favorite destinations, especially when shared with family. She loved music and dancing, especially when The Hubcaps were playing, and could always be counted on for a good game of cards or a laugh shared among friends. She was a member of the M.A.D.D., the American Legion in Florida, a social member of the VFW in Kingwood and a member of the Cooties.
She is survived by her siblings: Loretta and Ralph Comer of Seville, OH; Hubert Wolfe of Kingwood, WV; Phyllis Hamon of Kingwood, WV; Sue Gagen of Phoenixville, PA; and Dianna and Jim Duesler of Florida; as well as her sister-in-law Nillia Sapp and a large extended family of cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Erbie and Georgia Wolfe; her beloved son, Shawn Wolfe; and brothers Paul Wolfe, Harland Wolfe whom served in the Vietnam War, Roger Wolfe, sister Florence Hillary and brother in law George Hillary, and sister in law Mary Jane Wolfe. Marie’s warmth, humor, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family will be received on Friday November 7, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A reflection of life will be held at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Kingwood, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Amedysis Hospice. Condolences online www.kingwoodfuneralhomewv.com
