Mary Ellen Ervin, 79, of Reedsville, WV, passed away on January 2, 2025. She was born on December 31, 1945, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late William Forest Runner and Violet Viola Gross.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Scott and his partner Luann Wiles, of Reedsville, her daughter, Sherry Scott, of Newton; and her cherished grandchildren, Nina, Bobby, Danica, John, and Skye. Mary is also survived by three of her siblings, William David Runner and his wife Cristal, Maryl Runner, and Marie Wiles and her husband Teddy, as well as her nieces, Susan Lane-Huffman, Charlene Nutter and her husband Jim, and nephew, Jimmy Huffman.
Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Joseph Ervin, as well as her son, Bobby Glenn Tasker, sister, Martha Kott and brother, Dallas Runner.
Mary had many interests and passions that brought her joy. She loved her pets, especially enjoying walks with her dogs. She loved to go shopping, and enjoyed watching soap operas, Perry Mason, and Law & Order. She also had a deep love for the Mountaineers and the 'King of Rock and Roll' Elvis Presley. Mary worked as a home health aide for Hometown Care in Kingwood, where her caring nature and dedication shone through in all that she did. Throughout her life, she held various jobs and was known for her strong work ethic. Mary attended the Independent Baptist Church of Kingwood, Mary’s faith was an important part of her life, and she cherished the sense of community it provided. Her love for life, her family, and her faith will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Friends and family will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV 26537, on Wednesday January 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Terry Cumberland officiating.
