Mary Ann (Jenkins) Phillips, 71, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Mary Ann was born on February 3, 1955, in Grafton, WV, a daughter of the late James Ordain Jenkins and Anna Lee (Hawkins) Jenkins.
She was an alumna of East Fairmont High School and a graduate of Webster College in Fairmont, WV, where she studied secretarial science. Mary Ann worked for West Virginia University in the Data Entry and Accounting Services Department for 18 years. During her career, she helped integrate the university’s first mainframe computer system. After retiring from WVU, Mary Ann became an over the road truck driver with her husband Clarence for 15 years. Together, they saw every state in the continental U.S. and went on countless amazing adventures.
Mary Ann grew up in Catawba, WV, where she developed deep roots and many fond memories of family, friendship, and community that she carried with her throughout her life. She enjoyed learning about her ancestry, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
Mary Ann is survived by her treasured husband, Clarence Allen Phillips, Sr.; four beloved children, Jennifer (Todd) Franks, Tracy (Joel) Park, Clarence A. Phillips, Jr., and Melissa (Kerri) Phillips; nine grandchildren, Austin King, Courtney Phillips, Schuyler Franks, Corina (Tyler) Woods, Ciera Phillips, Noah (Brittany) Franks, Jordan (Brayden) Roach, Madeline Phillips, and Jansen Phillips; five great-grandchildren, Henry, Peyton, Ellie, Emmie, and Wrenley; two brothers, James Riley (Linda) Jenkins and Ross Edward Jenkins; one nephew, James Jenkins; and her beloved dog, Sniffer.
