Noel "Frank" Pyles Obituary

Noel “Frank” Franklin Pyles, 69, of Kingwood, WV, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, June 12, 2026. He was born on February 15, 1957, in Fort Ord, California, a son of the late Kenneth P. Pyles and Flora A. (Funk) Pyles.

Frank was a 1975 graduate of Rowlesburg High School. He went on to attend West Virginia University before beginning his career with the B&O Railroad. Over the years, he also worked for Chem Metals Plant, served as an assessor for Preston County, and later worked for Fibair in Reedsville for more than ten years.

Known to many simply as “Coach,” Frank coached basketball at the Civic Center and became a proud mentor, encourager, and supporter of many young people throughout the community. He loved cheering others on, motivating them, and making those around him feel seen and supported. Frank never met a stranger and was a bright light in every room he entered.

He had a great love for sports, especially statistics, and was also an avid collector who enjoyed music and the outdoors. Above all, Frank loved his family deeply. Of all the titles he held throughout his life, the one that brought him the most pride and joy was “Pap-Pap.”

Frank is survived by his son, Craig Pyles and wife Tiffany, of Kingwood; his daughter, Jennifer Pyles, of Kingwood; five grandchildren, Gannon Pyles, Marlee Graciano, Garron Pyles, Zoey Borgman, and Trek Pyles; one sister, Pamela Goss and husband William; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by one sister, Deborah K. Cale.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have donated to help cover Frank’s funeral expenses. They have been truly overwhelmed by the generosity, kindness, and support shown during this difficult time.

They would also like to offer a special thank you to Genesis Pierpont Center at Fairmont Campus Nursing Home for the love, care, and compassion shown to Frank.
