Norma Madeline Simmons

Norma Madeline Simmons, 78, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Kingwood Healthcare Center. She was born on October 27, 1946 in Kingwood, daughter of the late Jesse Herbert and Lucy Jane Summerfield Burke.

Norma graduated from Masontown High School. She was the Librarian at Rowlesburg for 30 plus years. She was also a teacher’s aide and Tutor over the years. Norma was a devoted member of the Rowlesburg Southern Baptist Church where she was always active and enjoyed working with the kids. 

Norma is survived by one daughter, Kristina Hartley (Rocky), Carolina, WV; one granddaughter, Kayla Jackson (Sam) Clarksburg; one great grandson, Denver Mitchell Jackson; three siblings, Linda Foster, Newburg, Rodney Burke (Sherry), Fairmont, Harvey Burke (Michele), Newburg; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mitchell Simmons on January 28, 2022; one son, Billy “BJ” Mitchell Simmons; siblings, Truman Burke, Thomas Burke, Donald Burke, Kathy Burke and Carol Burke
