Opal Irene (Moats) Smouse

Opal Irene Smouse, 94, of Masontown, WV, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Preston Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 5, 1924, in Irona, WV, a daughter to the late Ira Joseph and Bertha (Titchenell) Moats.

Opal was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, being outside, canning, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons and spouses, Ronald and Carolyn Smouse of Newburg, Ira and Barb Smouse of Masontown; one daughter and spouse, Angela and James Huffman of Kingwood; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Smouse; two sons, John Smouse Jr., Elwood Smouse; two daughters, Lillie May, Wilma Stonebreaker; three sisters, Lucille Wilson, Ruby Poling and Lillie Edmond.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 4-8pm; on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kelly Gamble officiating. Interment will be held in the Garden Of Everlasting Life, located at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kingwood, WV.
