Patrick David Wolfe Sr.

Patrick D. Wolfe, Sr, age 84, of Kingwood, WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at his home. He was born April 5, 1940, in Cascade, WV, a son of the late Ned and Genevieve (Mongold) Wolfe. His wife of 55 years, Diana R. Wolfe preceded him in death.

Patrick was a veteran having served in the US Air Force. He then returned to Preston county to start his family. He worked as a coal miner for several years becoming a foreman before his retirement from Island Creek Coal Company. Patrick was known to be able to fix or build anything with his hands. He was always willing to teach any family how to repair or fix an item that needed mended. One of his greatest enjoyments was travel. He had a deep true love of exploring and traveling, which involved driving family members thousands of miles over the years.

Surviving are:  his children, Tina Wolfe Schmidl (Joe), Lisa Lewis (Tom), Patrick D. Wolfe, Jr. (Les), and Tonya Wolfe (Chad), all of Kingwood; grandchildren, Patrick D. Wolfe III, Joshua Wolfe, Tommy Lewis (Kristin), Matthew Lewis (Elizabeth Brant), Justin Lewis (Emily Rinehart), Joseph Schmidl II, Alexis Schmidl, and G. Duke Wolfe; great grandchildren, Aubri, Mason, Grace, Dean, Sage, Jordan, Aubrey, and Kynlee; a sister, Shirley Stone; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by: four brothers, Walter Gribble, Franklin Wolfe, Ray Wolfe, and Rex Wolfe; and two sisters, Norma Gribble, and Janet Thorn.

In honor of his wishes there will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held at 10 am, Friday, October 4, 2024, at Maplewood Cemetery, Kingwood, with military rites being accorded by the Preston County honor guard.
