Patsy Belle (Nice) Hovatter

Patsy Belle (Nice) Hovatter, 83, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at her home. She was born on December 2, 1942 in Rowlesburg, daughter of the late Chalance Harold and Hazel Pauline (Shaffer) Nice.

Patsy was a graduate of Rowlesburg High School. She had worked for 31 years at Hopemont State Hospital as the Activities Director. Patsy was President of the Rowlesburg Senior Center, where she had just finished decorating for Christmas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rowlesburg. Patsy devoted her life to her church and to the senior center. She will be dearly missed by her friends, family and community.

Patsy is survived by her son, Micheal Hovatter (Patricia), of Kingwood; one daughter, Sonya Hovatter, of Rowlesburg; grandchildren, Troy Barrett, Gary Griffith, Nick Griffith, Stephanie Griffith; great grandchildren, Landon, Ava, Brianna, Bentley, Malachi; two sisters, Jeanie Goff, Lynn Likens, both of Rowlesburg; nieces, Colleen Sabatino, Kelly Myers, Paulette Nice, Alicia Wilder, and Terri McCumber, and Sherri Case ; nephews, Rob Goff, Chalance Nice, and Wesley Nice; several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by one son, Mark Hovatter; one brother, Harold Michael Nice; and one sister, Hedy Summerfield.

Friends and family will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., Kingwood, WV, from 4pm to 7pm, on Thursday, December 11, 2025 and on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 10am until the 11am funeral hour, with Pastor Kevin Keplinger officiating.
