Randy Joseph Thorn

Randy Joseph Thorn, 73, of Kingwood, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, with his family by his side.

Born on August 6, 1951, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Randy was the son of the late Francis (Frank) Thorn and Kelsie Bates Thorn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki Lynne Thorn, and his brothers, Rodger Thorn and Ronnie Thorn.

Randy is survived by his loving daughter, Chanda Weaver, and her husband Pat; his treasured grandchildren, Ashlyn and Kyle Weaver; his sister, Karen Light; his brother, Gary Thorn; his goddaughter, Kelsie Ann Thomas; and his father in law, Moody Greathouse. He also leaves behind his loyal cat, Tabby, who was his constant companion for the past five years.

Randy was a man who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and tinkering in his garage, often with a classic rock station playing in the background. He had a lifelong passion for music and spent his early years as a member of several local bands, where he loved singing and performing. Music remained a joyful part of his life, and he was always ready to share a song or hum a tune.

But above all, he loved spending time with his family-whether around a campfire, at home, or cheering on his grandkids. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit made everyone feel welcome.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, easygoing nature, and deep devotion to those he loved. His presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 11am to 1pm. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Dominic Athishu as celebrant.

A warm thanks also goes to his sister Karen Light, nephew Gary (Doopie) Thorn and family friend Michelle Ebert for their devoted time and care during this time of illness.
