Richard Miller Obituary

Dick Miller, 73, of Tunnelton, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1946, to the late Wade and Leora (Shaffer) Miller.

Dick was a 1964 graduate of Tunnelton High School. After graduation he worked at Snyder Motors in Kingwood, painted cars, and worked for various coal companies for 30 years. He served in the Army Reserves for six years. He attended Fellowsville U.M. Church.

He had a passion for many things, especially those with an engine.  He loved to race go-karts, reload shells and golf.  He even started quilting, which took us to many locations.  Later in life he started making pens and other items out of wood and acrylic. He learned by watching videos and began selling at craft shows. He loved talking to all the people that stopped by his booth.  He wouldn't miss a WVU ballgame and was always cheering the Mountaineers on.  His biggest passion was his grandchildren.  He loved them all so much and always tried to be there in all their endeavors, be it sports, showing animals in competition, parades or concerts.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda (Cox-Shahan) Miller.  They were married April 30, 1988 in Oakland, MD. Also, by one son Rick Miller of Tunnelton; two stepdaughters and spouses, Bridget and T.J. Phillips of Masontown, Jennifer and Mark Ellison of Morgantown; two brothers and spouses, Tom and Rose Miller of Albright and Tim and Ruby Miller of Parsons. Eight grandchildren; Tiffany Miller of Aurora, Natalie, Marli and Julia Phillips of Masontown, and Haley, Kaitlyn, Daniel and Audry of Morgantown.  He also had a niece & spouse, Kim and David Conner and their son, Thomas, of Valley Point, and a nephew and spouse Kevin and Rebecca Miller, of Fairmont.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael Miller, and father and mother-in-law, Chuck and Eleanor Cox

He generously donated his body to the Human Gift Registry of WVU.  He hoped that a student would be inspired to research Black Lung and help coal miners in the future.
