Obituary

Robert B. Meissner, age 80, of Kingwood, passed away August 10, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born June 13, 1943, in Salt Lake City, UT, a son of the late Eric B. and Doris (Good) Meissner.

Bob was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where he was the founder of the church video/media ministry, a member of the local benevolence committee, a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Kingwood. Bob was a Vietnam veteran having served in the US Marine Corp for 20 years in operational communications. He retired from the Marine Corp with the rank of Major. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley A. Hartley; his daughter, Kristina L. Bird and husband Bryan, of Parker, CO; two brothers, Keith H. Meissner and wife Connie, of Hemet, CA, and Richard L. Meissner and wife Lynn, of Clovis, CA; two stepsons, John Curtis “Jack” Wilkinson and wife Kim, Jeff Hartley and wife Tracey; two step daughters, Tammy Wiles and husband Jeff, and Tracy Grenoble; four grandchildren, William Bird, Alexander Bird, Alexandra Grenoble, and Elizabeth Grenoble; and the mother of his children, Karen Hill, of Texas.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his second wife, Donna Vanerstrom Grenoble Meissner; a son, Scott Alan Meissner; and two stepsons, Grant Scott Grenoble and Mark R. Grenoble.

Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood WV, on Monday from 3-7 pm, and on Tuesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church of Kingwood from 11 am until 1 pm. A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 107 W. High Street, Kingwood, with Reverend Jonathan Nettles officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the honor details of the US Marine Corp, VFWs and Vietnam Veterans of Preston County
