Russell Vernon Tenhoff, Jr., 64, of Kingwood, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Russell was born on July 17, 1961, in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Russell Vernon Tenhoff, Sr. and Elizabeth Annie (Charron) Tenhoff.
Russell was deeply beloved by the community as the minister of Mountainside Community Church. A devoted member of the Assemblies of God, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies and dedicated his life to sharing the word of God. His faith was his greatest passion, and he touched countless lives through his ministry.
He also had a great love for the outdoors, especially deer hunting, and never missed an opportunity to talk about Jesus. For eight years, he ran the Brooklyn Bridge Christian Coffee House, a place he took great pride in. The coffee house became a hub for fellowship, where many singers and bands helped bring people together in faith and friendship.
Russell is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Lynn (Kohlhafer) Tenhoff; five children, Rachel Tenhoff, Russell Tenhoff III and wife Kathy, David Tenhoff, Nathan Tenhoff, and Naomi Tenhoff; four siblings, Michael Tenhoff, Bill Lewis, Renee Lewis, and Jack Lewis; and three treasured grandchildren, Toby Peacock, Charlotte Peacock, and Morgan Tenhoff.
A graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood, WV, will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM, officiated by John Shaffer.
