Shirley Ann (Uphold) Howell

Shirley Ann Howell, 81, of Kingwood, WV, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024 in Morgantown, WV. She was born in Kingwood, February 5, 1942, a daughter of the late Howard Uphold, Sr. and Lela Mae (Lipscomb) Uphold. Her husband, David Lloyd Howell, preceded her in death November 2, 2019.

Shirley was a homemaker and had previously worked at Kinney Shoes. She loved to sew and was an accomplished quilter. She also enjoyed flower gardening and feeding the hummingbirds, and spending time with her parakeets, Petie and Annie, but most of all she enjoyed get togethers with her family and friends.

Surviving are: one daughter, Marcia Howell, of Kingwood; one son, Sam Howell and wife Cassie, of Tunnelton; two grandchildren, Jacob Howell and companion Haley France, of Fairmont, and Emily Howell, of Morgantown; one brother, Fred Uphold and wife Linda, of Kingwood; one sister in law, Ronda Uphold, of Albright; several nieces and nephews, especially a close niece, Connie Hillary and a close great niece, Bethany Taylor; very special friends: Sandra Bowmar, Wanda Layton, Becky Robinson, Sue Bishop, Patty Jones, the Stonebreaker family, Billy Sisler and family, and Bruce and Betsy Castle.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by: two brothers, John Uphold, and Howard “Bob” Uphold, Jr.; and two sisters, Ruby Strahin and Sharon Lea Uphold.

At her request cremation services will be accorded by the Kingwood Funeral Home and Crematory. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
