Shirley Louise (Nelson) Johnson, 79, of Tunnelton, WV, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at her home. She was born on May 13, 1945, in Tunnelton, daughter of the late Samuel Kenneth Nelson and Madeline Virginia (Miller) Nelson.
Shirley had worked for Ames, Family Dollar, Heldreth and Sheidow Bronze. She was a member of the West End Church in Tunnelton. Shirley loved to sing and go to church. She enjoyed bingo, gardening, mushroom hunting, cleaning and ginsenging. Shirley loved her family and she will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by a son, Randy Messenger, of Virginia; two daughters, Linda Jackson, of Newburg, Virginia Shannon (Warren Chewning), of Tunnelton; six grandchildren, Tiffany Thomas (Jamie), Mark Jackson (McKayla), Jeremy Jackson, Christy Jackson (TJ Shahan), Hunter Jackson (Ally), David Shannon (Chastidy); thirteen great grandchildren, Aiden, Seth, Mya, Chelsey, Brooke, Brionna, Bryson, Watson, Atlee, Carter, Ryan, Peyton, Colton; one brother, James (Linda) Nelson, of Tunnelton; three sisters, JoAnn Sedmak, of Kingwood, Rosemary Stone (Charlie), of Tunnelton, Patty Winters (Chuck), of Tunnelton; bonus daughters, Anita Harvey (John), of Fellowsville, Joyce Rankin (Scott), of Fellowsville, Mary Shahan, of Arthurdale; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Johnson; two brothers, David Nelson, Robert Nelson; and one sister, Donna Miller.
Friends and family will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV 26537, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 2pm to 7pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11am with Pastor Sonny McNear and Pastor Richard Snider officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. View Cemetery, Tunnelton.
