Sidney “Tinker” Jones, III, 61 of Kingwood went to his eternal home in heaven on Monday, October 2, 2023, with family by his side.
Sid was born in Philippi, WV on August 5, 1962, the son of Sidney Jones Jr. and the late Donna Jean (Ramsey) Jones.
Sid was a 1980 graduate of Philip-Barbour High School. Archery was a big part of his life and along with his parents they owned Bullseye Sports in Belington. Sid was the service manager for 30 + years for Scott Ford in Kingwood and Shaffer Ford in Oakland, MD. He then went to work for Arch Coal Leer Mines. He said he finally found his forever job. He worked there until March 2022 when his illness would not allow him to return to the mines.
In addition to his dad, he is survived by his wife Kathy Jones, sons Nick and Jake Jones of Belington, Jaxson Jones of Kingwood, Josh (Trista) Bailey of Kingwood and daughter Abby (Jeremy) Holt of Tunnelton; grandson Ivan Jones, brother Kevin Jones and sister Crystal (Bill) Moss of Belington. Father and Mother-in-law Fred and Linda Uphold of Kingwood; sister and brother-in-law Amy and Stephen Goodwin of Kingwood; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Kingwood Church of the Nazarene, Wellsley Street on Thursday, October 5, from 1-4 pm with service at 4 pm by Dr. Brian Detrick. Per Sid’s request, he will be cremated.
