Thomas "Tom" Joseph Soltes

My beloved husband of 43 years, Tom Soltes, went home to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer. Tom was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on May 6, 1949 and was the son of Albert and Mary Szendrey Soltes. He graduated from Brien McMahon High School and earned a BS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Tom worked as a Computer Repair Technician for Computer Doctor in Stamford, and later as an Apple Computer Repair Service Manager for TBI Computer in Westport and Norwalk for many years until his retirement.

Tom loved the Lord and served for many years as a musician with the Mobile Ministry and later in the Praise Band at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Darien, CT. In 1984, we attended a Discipleship Training School in Honolulu, Hawaii and later did evangelistic outreaches at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics, and in various locations in Mexico and Belize.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Donald Soltes, and his dearly loved cat, Baxter T. Soltes. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son, Ian Soltes.

Along with his passion for playing guitar and music, Tom enjoyed sending out gospel tracts in postpaid business reply envelopes for he stood on Isaiah 55:11 – “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” In lieu of flowers, please find a gospel tract and send it out in a business reply envelope or please make a donation to the Gideon’s International Bible via “SendTheWord.org”.

Many heartfelt thanks to WV Caring who were there every step of the way during his final days and provided excellent hospice care for him at our home. May they be blessed a thousand fold for their ability to daily walk with the dying and their families through the valley of the shadow of death.
