Vance "Buck" Gribble ,Jr. Obituary

Vance “Buck” Gribble Jr., 88, of the Campground Community in Tunnelton, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Mon General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born April 19, 1937, in Howesville, he was the beloved son of the late Vance and Margaret Riley Gribble. Buck was reunited in heaven with the love of his life, Teresa Rose Tress Gribble, who preceded him in death on March 4, 2018. Their devotion to one another was steadfast and enduring, a love that carried them faithfully through the years.

Buck retired after many dedicated years as a coal miner with Consol, embodying the strength, grit, and determination of a hardworking provider. His work ethic was matched only by his unwavering faith. A devoted member of Brighter Day Church in Tunnelton, Buck never missed an opportunity to speak about the Lord. He shared his testimony freely, encouraged others with scripture, and lived as a shining example of strong faith and humble gratitude. He was, in every sense, a blessed man.

Outside of his work and church, Buck found great joy in restoring antique cars. With patient hands and a craftsman’s heart, he brought old vehicles back to life — a reflection of his own ability to see beauty, value, and purpose in what others might overlook.

Above all, Buck cherished his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his children: Kathy Hayes (Kimble), Karen Kilkenny (Mark), Larry Gribble (Marsha), and John Gribble (Amy). His ten grandchildren — Adam Hayes (Casey), Eric Hayes (Melissa), Kara Spiker (John), M.J. Kilkenny (Vicki), Ryan Kilkenny, Cortney Teets (Joe), Logan Gribble (Scott), Levi Gribble (Hailey), Caleb Gribble (Hailey), and Jesse Gribble — were a constant source of pride and joy. His thirteen great-grandchildren — Kaden, Kamryn, Charlie, Liam, Ryder, Jake, Maddox, Ally, Bryson, Macy, Willow, Ellie, and Lincoln — brought light to his later years and carried forward his legacy of faith and family.

He is also survived by his siblings, Dallas Gribble, Tom Gribble, Trudy Zuchowski, and Kay Boone, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember his warm smile and steady presence.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Buck was preceded in death by his cherished grandson, Gabriel Gribble, and his sister, Rebecca Sanders. Though their absence was deeply felt, he held firmly to the promise of reunion through Christ.

Buck’s life was a testament to hard work, deep faith, and unconditional love. His words of encouragement, gentle spirit, and steadfast belief in God will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
