William "Bill" Duncan Harvey

William Duncan Harvey 87, of Kingwood passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his residence with his daughter by his side. Bill was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 23 1936, a son of the late Benjamin and Sonja Harvey and Earl and Eleanor Schleihauf. He was the owner of Empire Lumber and Supply Company, and then went on to work at Lowe's for 20 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Bill graduated from Kingwood High School in 1954 where he played football, baseball, and was captain of the basketball team. He graduated from WVU in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. While attending WVU he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and was in ROTC. He was a Captain in the United States Army. Bill loved golf and was the Men's Champion at Preston Country Club at age 16. He also had 2 holes in one in his golfing career at Preston Country Club and at Cumberland Country Club. Bill was a member of Lion's Club (President), Morgantown Touchdown Club (President), Life Time Member of the Eagles, and President of Gene's Bar in Morgantown where he loved to play Bridge. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Preston Country Club and the Homeowners Association. He volunteered for numerous organizations in his community. Bill is survived by his daughter Sally Harvey-Deep and husband Mark Deep, a granddaughter Sophia Deep, and a brother Ben Harvey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Judy Harvey and his sister Joy Stevens. Friends will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home and Crematory at 295 South Price Street on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 3-7pm, on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10am until the time of the funeral in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11am with the Reverend Michael Argabrite officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
